One of the key components will be in distilling and distribution of the product. Having considered a number of options, we have decided to partner with the Bauza family. A cornerstone of the Chilean Pisco industry, with a legacy spanning over 140 years. Their commitment to tradition, quality, and innovation has made them a symbol of excellence in Pisco production.

Pisco Bauzá is a distinguished Chilean pisco brand rooted in the country’s rich distillation heritage. Established in 1925 by Spanish immigrant Lorenzo Bauzá, the distillery has grown into Chile’s largest family-owned pisco producer, renowned for its commitment to quality and tradition.

Lorenzo Bauzá arrived in Chile from Mallorca, Spain, in 1906 at the age of 18. He initially settled in Combarbalá and later in Coquimbo, where he started a dried fruit business under his name. As his enterprise flourished, he acquired lands in Chile’s IV region and ventured into viticulture, eventually purchasing two distilleries in Vallenar and Varillar. In 1925, he founded Agroproductos Bauzá y Cía, laying the foundation for the family’s pisco production legacy.

The Bauzá family’s dedication to crafting high-quality pisco led to the brand’s prominence in the Chilean market. Their vineyards, situated over 1,200 meters above sea level, benefit from optimal climatic and environmental conditions, contributing to the exceptional quality of their pisco.

Awards and Recognitions
Pisco Bauzá has garnered numerous accolades over the years, reflecting its excellence in pisco production:

2014 International Spirits Challenge: Pisco Bauzá received four gold medals for its “Pisco Bauzá Reservado,” “Pisco Bauzá Crystal,” “Pisco Bauzá Aniversario,” and “Pisco El Gobernador.”

2016 International Spirits Challenge: The brand earned silver medals for “Pisco Bauzá Aniversario Doble Destilado Extra Añejado Reservado 40°,” “Pisco Bauzá Crystal Doble Destilado Reservado 40°,” and “Pisco Bauzá Doble Destilado Añejado Reservado 40°.”

Catad’Or Wine Awards Santiago de Chile: Pisco Bauzá was honored with the “Pisco del Año” trophy and the only Gran Oro Medal in the “Piscos” category for its “Bauzá Doble Destilado Añejado Especial 35°.”

After the passing of Lorenzo Bauzá, his son, Lorenzo Bauzá Álvarez, took over the family business, expanding pisco sales and solidifying the brand’s reputation. In the late 1990s, the Bauzá family diversified into wine production, planting the Pelán vineyard in Til Til, north of the Maipo Valley. This venture led to the creation of Casa Bauzá wines, showcasing the family’s innovative spirit.

Information regarding the current owner, Rodrigo Bauzá, is limited in the available sources. However, the Bauzá family’s enduring commitment to excellence continues to shape the brand’s legacy in both pisco and wine production.

Pisco Bauzá remains a testament to Chile’s rich distillation traditions, offering a range of high-quality piscos that have earned international acclaim.
